WEB An Ontology-Based Dataspace Management System for Materials Engineering Applications

We use the term dataspace to describe a virtual space that accommodates semantically-accessible data. Similarly, to a database, a dataspace also stores data persistently, however, unlike a database, it utilizes an ontology to make available semantic information about the data. To manage this sort of knowledge base, we developed the Dataspace Management System (DSMS). It is an online service that maintains a common dataspace and offers a web interface and a REST API that facilitate exchanging, discovering, and generating data from within and across multiple data sources. The main features and capabilities of the DSMS are easy upload of data via REST API or dynamically-generated web-forms, search and querying, data export, and advanced data and ontology visualization. DSMS is built on top of SimPhoNy OSP-core, an ontology-based framework that promotes and enables interoperability across multiple independent 3rd-party software tools.
