MSE 2024 is segmented into the following 8 Topics:
The topics are divided into symposia which are announced in the Call for Abstracts (CfA). If the criteria for the sustainability of symposia are not fulfilled by the deadline of the CfA, they will be merged with other symposia or canceled. The Topic Coordinators will do this. A functioning symposium must have at least three full oral sessions. This means that, by the end of the deadline, there must be at least 12 oral presentations (without contributions that have been classified as posters) to meet the feasibility criteria.
A session comprises the contributions from one coffee break to another coffee break. There will be no change of Topic or Symposium within a session.
A session chair must lead every session. The Symposium Organizers need to identify and organize the Session Chairs for their Symposium until 1 July 2024. The Organizers could chair a session as well.
2.1 Plenary = 40 min, without discussion - Will be selected and invited by the Topic-Coordinators - 1 Plenary Lecture per Topic
Excellent scientists or representatives of the industry will give a lecture on an important topic. The program committee invites them.
2.2 Keynote = 35 min + 2 min for Q&A and 3 minutes to change the room
Excellent scientists or representatives of the industry will give a lecture focusing on the topic of the Symposium. Depending on the length of a symposium, two Keynote Speakers could be realized. The Symposium Organiser will choose them. Keynote speakers have to pay the congress fee and will not receive any travel support.
2.3 Highlight = 15 min + 2 min for Q&A and 3 minutes to change the room
The Symposium Organiser can mark lectures that are above average as Highlight Lectures. Two Highlight Lectures per Symposium are possible. Highlight Speakers have to pay the congress fee and will not receive any travel support.
2.4 Lecture = 15 min + 2 min for Q&A and 3 minutes to change the room
Contributed lectures will be classified by the Symposium Organiser and put into the congress program.
2.5 Poster
Posters are on display during the congress in the foyer of the lecture halls. The presenting authors of the posters will be available for discussion during the poster show.
The congress is financed through the congress fees. The scientific cooperation is on a fully unpaid and voluntary basis. Expenses are not refunded. The congress fee will only be waived for Plenary Speakers and Topic Coordinators.
Symposium Organizers, Session Chairs, Keynote Speakers, Highlight Speakers must pay the regular congress fee. As representatives of the MSE we expect the participation of all Symposium Organizers.
In addition to the abstracts, authors have the opportunity to upload documents as full papers (voluntary), their posters, or an oral poster presentation as video through the MSE website. The documents will be exclusively available on the virtual congress platform of the MSE 2024.
